Sustainable refill candles for your Flambeaux scented object
More than 790,000 tons of various wax candles are sold in Europe every year - an astronomical amount. Even if only a fraction of it is delivered in glass containers, a significant amount of glass still ends up in the recycling bin at best. Although candlelight and scents are highly emotional matters, it still makes sense to take environmental issues seriously. Not only does glass use a lot of energy before it is melted and formed into its transparent aesthetic, but recycling requires more or less the same amount of energy, if even possible!
We thought it was time to consider an alternative solution to mass market home scented candles:
Carsten Jörgensen set out to design the Flambeaux candle holder that is made to last for years. Using an innovative method of making candles, Monsieur Coquillard in the candle factory in France - after hundreds of tests and with a lot of effort and sweat - finally found the solution in a composition of soy wax with a small proportion of paraffin for the replacement candles. The madetostay scents Limonaia, Magnolia, Desert Rain, Blue Room and Sensational, including unscented candles, now prevent you from having to throw away your candle holder because it can no longer be used when the candle is used up. Thanks to our small contribution to our shared environment, you can order candles that fit exactly into your small Flambeaux candle holder.

And on a practical note: simply clean the remaining wax in your Flambeaux glass candle holder with hot water and put it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning... or simply hand wash it with a little soap and polish it with a cotton cloth.

The first impression of The Blue Room is aquatic, salty and fresh; you immerse yourself in the beauty and vastness of the Scandinavian dune landscape. The fresh sea breeze scent is complemented by the floral notes of red berries, dune rose and viola. The fragrance composition is rounded off by the warm, grounding, spicy scent of amber, sandalwood and moss. The essence of the north with all its facets, captured in one scent.
Inspired by a painting by Danish painter Anna Ancher, "The Blue Room" embodies Nordic essence exuding a sweet scent of heather, pine and crowberries flavored with the salty sea air - carried on a ray of sunshine through an open window into this blue room. A scent that makes time stand still in deep, silent breathing.
Woody, amber, sandalwood

First you notice citrusy scents such as lemon, orange blossom and jasmine. The character of the fragrance is created by warm aromas of rose, cloves and patchouli, rounded off with base notes of sandalwood, vanilla and amber. Give your rooms a very individual atmosphere with this sophisticated and modern fragrance composition.
Sensational, the signature scent from madetostay. The intention was to give rooms of minimalist architecture a fourth dimension with a sublime scent. Radically personal and expressive, a new fragrance that does not contain any nostalgic or romantic allusions and impresses with its personal signature.
Lemon, lime, orange blossom and a floral touch
Imagine you are in Tuscany and after the long winter you open the door of the lemon greenhouse, the Limonaia, in a castello for the first time on a spring day, and an intoxicating melange of scents of lemon, lime and bitter orange (petitgrain) flow towards you . You take another deep breath and scents of rose, jasmine and ylang ylang join in. The warm base of the fragrance composition is vanilla, which gives it a subtle sweetness.

floral, magnolia
A floral, fresh, bright scent, with a few fruity nuances, opens up to you as if you were standing under a large, blooming magnolia tree. Can you smell spring too? Gardenia, lily of the valley and cyclamen enrich the scent with a lovely character. A musky finish with a hint of vanilla and vanilla flowers will seduce you completely.
If the scent Magnolia were a song, it would be “Summertime” by Louis Armstrong. Magnolia, the scent of the American South, every moment surrounded by a mix of extravagance and sensuality, with a subtle, erotic note and a jazzy rhythm.

Desert Rain, or L'eau de desert...this mystical scent welcomes you with tea chords, incense and green notes in the top note. Added notes of rhubarb, sweet-woody patchouli and jasmine for a noble elegance. The sensual basis of this unique fragrance composition is formed by sandalwood, vanilla and amber.
Limitless freedom, love and peace, these are the emotions that represent this fragrance. It is the most masculine, spicy scent in the madetostay home fragrance collection. The scent reminds the designer of a trip through the Arizona desert after a long-awaited rain shower. The desert plant Larrea tridentata releases this “healing” scent in the rain and when transferred to your home, Desert Rain invites you to cozy, relaxing moments on your sofa, free from stress and constraints.

When you first light the candle, let it burn a little longer - this way it will burn more evenly. If necessary, trim the wick to 4-6mm. Remember not to have children, pets, or flammable items near the flame.
And when it comes to cleaning, you have three options for leftover wax: oven, freezer or hot water bath. Very easy! 😊

Light & Hope
"Flambeaux": A name derived from the Mardi Gras carnival parades in the southern states of North America. The Flambeaux tradition dates back to 1857: During Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, wooden torches were wrapped in rags and lit to illuminate the parade routes at night. Originally worn by enslaved Africans and free people of color, Flambeaux straps reflected the racial segregation and discrimination in the United States at the time. Despite the social problems they represented, the flambeaux bearers soon stole the show, dancing and twirling alongside the floats, lighting up the sky and spirits.
Every madetostay design always has a purpose or message... Designer Carsten Jörgensen wanted the Flambeaux candles to spread light and hope, just like the Flambeaux bearers in the dark streets of New Orleans.

Making candles is akin to alchemy, as properly mixing wax is crucial to unlocking the full potential of perfume creation. In the Grand Est region of France, we met Monsieur Coquillard and his experienced candlemakers, who have been making candles from pure sunflower wax (Helianthus annuus) without artificial additives in their Procado workshop for years. These madetostay scented candles provide pleasant light and scent for 40 hours. Our perfumers at DROM are thrilled with this result, because the formula that balances scent, ecology and poetic candlelight was a truly alchemical miracle after two years of production.
