What Makes the X-tract Filter So Special?
Discover why this patented design stands out from all other filters—and why there's simply no real alternative!
"She's so cute!"
That's what most people say when they hold the small ARCA for the first time. But that impression is deceptive, because the jug holds 600ml and you can brew up to 500ml of coffee.
Here's how to prepare your perfect coffee:
- Pour ground coffee into the filter.
- Fill with hot, but not boiling, water. (Optimal temperature is 96°C.)
- Stir and break up any lumps.
- Cover and let the flavors infuse. (At least 4 minutes, we recommend 12.)
- Important: Serve with the filter in the ARCA. This small detail makes the coffee so delicious.
There is no better coffee with rolls or cake.

High quality, durable, dishwasher safe
Our patented stainless steel filter is made entirely of high-quality stainless steel and has an additional fine-mesh stainless steel sieve inside. A silicone ring holds the porcelain lid securely on the filter so that it does not fall into your freshly brewed coffee.
Material: Porcelain, borosilicate glass, stainless steel filter, silicone ring
The Arca X-tract is available in two versions:
- Borosilicate glass : This heat-resistant laboratory glass contains no harmful substances, is hygienic and does not absorb any tastes, odors or discolorations. It is light, stable and very robust.
- Porcelain : We use robust hotel quality to guarantee durability in daily use.
With Arca X-tract you are on the safe side. Enjoy your coffee without worrying about harmful substances that could develop during brewing. Stay healthy!
We have been consistently avoiding the use of plastic and aluminum in both our products and our packaging for years.

Easy and quick cleaning
Cleaning the Arca X-tract is quick and easy. All parts are dishwasher safe.
To clean the filter, dispose of the coffee grounds in the organic household waste or compost and rinse them under running water from the outside to the inside. We recommend cleaning the filter in the dishwasher once a week. Alternatively, you can clean it with very hot water, a brush and detergent.

Wie es funktioniert?
Enjoy delicious coffee and simply feel good
When less is more. Less effort, less waste, better coffee.
Good taste and a good feeling too - reducing can be fun.

Gentle long-term roasting with family tradition. Roasting master: Sebastian Schneider
Not more, but better: quality that does good.
The correct roasting and the freshness of the coffee play a major role. Our coffee is not roasted too quickly, too lightly, too darkly or for too long. This means that harmful substances such as furan and acrylamide are kept to a minimum, allowing you to enjoy a cup without regrets.

Von deinem Kaffee bleibt nur ein kleiner Rest Kompost übrig.
Maximum taste, minimal waste for a good feeling!
Only a small amount of compost remains from your coffee.

At Carl Henkel, we pay the utmost respect to the long journey of every coffee bean. From the painstaking picking and careful harvesting to the masterful roasting, each bean undergoes an intensive process that requires considerable labor, care, and passion. When you prepare your coffee with the ARCA X-tract and the aromatic aroma rises, remember this extraordinary journey.
Questions & Answers
Your coffee stays hot for a really long time , even without a warmer. Thanks to the innovative filter in our Arca, the coffee stays pleasantly warm for about half an hour.
Here is a little insight into our measurements at a room temperature of 22°C:
- At the beginning the coffee has a brewing temperature of 96°C.
- After 4 minutes the coffee is ready. At a temperature of 86°C it is still very hot and the taste is still developing.
- After 10 minutes: The coffee is at a temperature of 78°C. I wait another 2-3 minutes.
- After 20 minutes the temperature is 70°C. Best for me.
Yes , absolutely. The coffee doesn't have a brewing effect and doesn't become bitter. We've had this experience together with coffee experts. The filter in the coffee also keeps your favorite drink hot for longer.
Give the coffee about 4 minutes to release the aromas. After a few more minutes it will reach the ideal drinking temperature. I find that after about 12 minutes the coffee is perfect for a leisurely breakfast. Perfect, right?
We put a lot of effort into the design of our jug to reduce dripping as much as possible. But honestly, we - and no one else - have yet managed to create a perfectly drip-free jug.
However, if you are not too hesitant when pouring and do not fill the jug all the way to the top, you can greatly minimize dripping.
If your filter is no longer draining properly, you should wash it with hot water. We put it in the dishwasher about once a week and select a high temperature program once a month.
Still clogged? Not only with the Arca are the essential oils are responsible for the great taste on the one hand, but can also ruin grinders or X-tract filter can become clogged. But don't worry, this can be fixed: Place the filter in an oven preheated to around 120°C for around 10 minutes. Then carefully remove it with a pair of tongs or a pot holder and immediately rinse it with cold water to remove the oils. Let the filter cool down briefly and then rinse it thoroughly again or put it in the dishwasher again. After that, it is ready for use again and as good as new!
The German Coffee Association recommends using 60g of coffee per liter of water. This also applies to preparation using the X-Tract method. As a rough measure, we use around 6g per heaped spoon at home. This means as a guideline:
- 8 spoons for a full Arca (add about 800ml water)
- 5 spoons in 1/2 l water
- 3 spoons in 300ml water (a large cup)
If your coffee is too weak and it is not due to the amount of coffee, you have probably poured the coffee too slowly . Then the water flows too slowly and the coffee is not mixed. In this case, you have to stir the coffee well.
If the coffee is too strong, simply reduce the amount of coffee powder or choose a milder, fruitier roast with a coarser grind. Experiment a little until you find your perfect setting.
